Lane Hutson is a very promising prospect in Montreal. It’s no longer a secret, and we hope to see him in the metropolis very soon.
We know that the defenseman hasn’t closed the door on a return to Boston University next year, but he also wanted to make the jump to the pros this season.
Will we see him with the Habs this season? One thing’s for sure: Kent Hughes wants him to sign a contract at the end of his university season.
That’s what the GM told the Sick Podcast – The Eye Test.
For the time being, the Habs want to let him concentrate on his season with Boston University. As soon as his campaign ends, Hughes will do everything in his power to sign him. And I’m sure the prospect wants the same.
In 15 games, the American, who will be at the World Junior Championship, collected 20 points, including eight goals.
His progress compared to last year is dazzling, and surprisingly, he’s on track to shatter his point tally from last year. The podcast’s two hosts, Jimmy Murphy and Pierre McGuire, asked Hughes what Hutson needed to improve.
At the start of the season, the Montreal GM wanted his protégé to show even more leadership than last year. The Tricolore also wanted to see how he would handle the pressure, as a 19-year-old entering his second year of university.

Because if you can’t handle the pressure at BU, good luck in Montreal…
So far, the kid’s doing well. From what Hughes has noticed, Hutson is attracting interest from Quebecers, even in Boston. At Terrier games, there are plenty of French-speaking folks on hand to watch Lane Hutson play.
After all, he’s such an exciting prospect, and the drive from Boston to Montreal isn’t that long.
So imagine this defensive line with the CH at the end of the season:
Matheson-Savard
Guhle-Barron
Hutson-Struble
Kovacevic-Harris
It’s a young defensive line, but it’s far from bad.

– Hope’s development shouldn’t take a hit.
According to @SportExpressen Adam Engström’s coach and GM (and Canadians) Cam and Chris Abbott has been fired from Rögle.
In regards to the #Habs prospect’s development my take is that since Max Bohlin (the defensive coach) stays on, Engström’s development shouldn’t be hindered
