Kevin Costner in Dances with Django?

Mr. Brooks star in talks for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.

Mr. Brooks star Kevin Costner is currently in negotiations to play Ace Woody in the next Quentin Tarantino movie, Django Unchained, an homage to the highly-stylized violent spaghetti westerns of the 1960s, reports Deadline.

Set in the deep south, Costner joins Academy award-winner Jamie Foxx, who plays the title role of a former slave-turned-bounty hunter on a mission to free his wife, and Christoph Waltz, the German bounty hunter who trains and helps Django.

Leonardo DiCaprio will play the villain Calvin Candie, brutal owner of a Mississippi plantation called Candyland, where he pits male slaves against each other in fights to the death, and sexually exploits the female slaves. Costner will play Candie’s sadistic and ruthless fight coach Ace Woody, who has no problem with killing anyone who doesn’t measure up.

Another Tarantino favorite, Samuel L. Jackson also has a key role. The film is expected to begin filming this fall in Louisiana.

In the meantime, Costner will play the adoptive father of Clark Kent in Man of Steel expected in theaters for Christmas 2012. He also directed and starred in the WWII action-drama A Little War of Our Own, which has yet to be released.
