Kevin Kline, Paul Dano, Katie Holmes and John C. Reilly have joined the cast of the comedy The Extra Man, according to Variety.
The film is based on a novel by Jonathan Ames, who also participated in writing the script with directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini (The Nanny Diaries). Production is set to begin in February in New York.
Kline will star as an unsuccessful playwright who then decides to work as a gigolo for wealthy widows in New York’s Upper East Side. He develops a student-mentor relationship with an aspiring playwright played by Paul Dano.
In the meantime, Kline will be seen in the French film Joueuse, opening in France on August 12.
