Kid Rock’s funeral song

Kid Rock wants a track from his new album, ‘Midnight Ferry’, played at his funeral.

Kid Rock wants a track from his new album played at his funeral.

The rapper’s reflective side comes out on ‘Midnight Ferry’ from his new ‘Rebel Soul’ album and he thinks it would be fitting to be played at his final send off.

He told MTV News: "’Midnight Ferry,’ it’s really dark, but it’s not a dark song; it’s reflective, but it’s happy, it’s celebratory. I know what I want played at my funeral: That’s the song.

"I was telling that to somebody recently and they were like ‘Dude, that’s dark.’ And I’m like, ‘No, everything’s cool, trust me. I’m in the bonus round of life now.’ God forbid I gotta check out any time soon, but, I’m like, ‘It’s cool, it’s been a good ride.’"

The star – real name James ‘Bob’ Richie – also has another track on the album where he confronts his onstage persona head on.

Speaking of ‘Mirror’, he said: "I just pictured myself having an honest conversation in the mirror – you know, Bob Richie talking to Kid Rock.

"But it’s not, you know, ‘Oh, I’m so successful and I feel alone,’ "Because I’m so fortunate and blessed to be still making music and have people come out and see me play; you’re not gonna catch me bitching on any level. It’s a song that’s better to be heard, it’s tough to talk about."

‘Rebel Soul’ is out now.
