Guillermo Arriaga, who wrote the screenplay for Babel, is making the big jump in directing with the movie The Burning Plain, for which he also wrote the screenplay.
In this production, Basinger plays Gina, who will play Sylvia’s mother, played by Theron. Filming begins in November in New Mexico.
Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald will be producing this drama. Theron’s production company, 2929, will be doing the film along with co-producers Marc Butan, Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban.
