Kings of Leon cancel remainder of U.S. Tour

The group won’t complete American jaunt but plan to honor their 9 Canadian dates.

Singer Caleb Followill’s "vocal issues and exhaustion" have forced the Kings of Leon to abandon their U.S. tour. After stopping a show early on Friday night (July 29) in Dallas, the band released a statement to MTV News.

"We are so sorry to say Kings of Leon are canceling their entire US tour due to Caleb Followill suffering from vocal issues and exhaustion," read the statement. "The band is devastated, but in order to give their fans the shows they deserve, they need to take this break."

Kings of Leon originally intended to reschedule the Dallas concert, but when frontman Followill remained too ill to take the stage the following night in Houston, the decision was made to cease any further dates.

"Unfortunately, the US dates cannot be rescheduled due to the band’s international tour schedule," the statement continued. "Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. Tickets purchased online or via phones will be automatically refunded."

Followill plans to rest for several weeks so that the band can honor the Canadian leg of the tour – commencing slightly later than initially planned – in late September.

"The band will resume touring in Canada at the Rogers Center in Vancouver, BC, on September 28th," they announced. "That show was originally scheduled for September 14th."

While exhaustion is officially cited as the singer’s illness, Followill’s brother and Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill disclosed that potential band troubles are also playing a role in the tour cancellation.

"There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed … I can’t lie," Jared recently tweeted. "There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade."
