K’Naan’s special song
According to the Globe and Mail newspaper, popular Somali-Canadian rapper K’Naan reworked his song Wavin’ Flag to support the reconstruction and relief effort in Haiti.
The new version of Wavin’ Flag launches today online as a digital single and video to support earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.
The lyrics of this song focus more on the need for aid and was recorded mainly on February 18 at Warehouse Studio in Vancouver. Bob Ezrin produced the single. A host of Canadian stars participated in the recording, including Justin Bieber, Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne, Broken Social Scene, Kardinal Offishall and Hawksley Workman.
Funds raised from this release will be given to Free the Children, War Child Canada and World Vision.
Another version of K’Naan’s Wavin’ Flag will be the main song in Coca Cola’s campaign during this year’s World Cup in June.
