The Hollywood Reporter writes that Twilight star Kristen Stewart will play Joan Jett in The Runaways.
The film will recount the story of the first all-girl rock band, formed in 1975. Guitarists Joan Jett, Lita Ford, drummer Sandy West, singer and keyboardist Cherrie Currie and bassist Jackie Fox rocked the music world together for four years.
The film mainly follows Jett and Currie, during their meteoric rise and following breakup. Filming is set to begin in 2009, when Stewart is not busy filming the Twilight sequel, New Moon.
Stewart will also star in the comedy Adventureland, with Ryan Reynolds, opening on March 27, 2009.
