Kylie Minogue inducted into hall of fame

Singer welcomed into top ranks of Australian Record Industry Association.

The Australian recording industry has ushered native-born singer Kylie Minogue into their national hall of fame, joining the ranks of previous inductees like the Bee Gees, INXS, Rolf Harris and AC/DC, reports Contact Music.

"I’m a very proud Australian," Minogue said as she took the stage to accept the induction into the Australian Record Industry Association (Aria) Hall of Fame, which was presented by the country’s Prime Minister Julia Gillard.

"I’m always bragging about our country wherever I am in the world, and tonight’s award means so much to me. And I just want to let all of you know – and everyone at home – that Australia, I love you and I thank you very much."

The 43-year-old singer went on to share her feelings of "amazement, gratitude, humility, wonderment and pride" at having received the honor. She also thanked her family for their support, especially sister Dannii Minogue.

Popular children’s entertainers the Wiggles were also welcomed into the Aria Hall of Fame. Rock band Boy & Bear also won that evening, taking home five awards including album of the year for their debut LP Moonfire.
