Kylie Minogue set a new record. She is the first artist to have a number one album in four consecutive decades.
Her eleventh studio album, Aphrodite, sits at number one on the charts in the UK. She knocked Eminem’s Recovery to number two.
The string of number one albums began with her debut album, Kylie, back in 1988. Other albums that reached the top spot include: Enjoy Yourself (1989) and Fever (2001). The Official Charts Company also includes a greatest hits album on that list.
The Australian singer is now based in the UK. She commented: "I’ve been completely overwhelmed by the reaction to Aphrodite and to hear that the album has got to No 1 is the most amazing news. I am ecstatic!"
MInogue faced the toughest challenge of her life in 2005 when she learned she had breast cancer. Today she is cancer free and back to performing for her adoring fans.
