Lady Gaga accused of plagiarism

Chicago singer launches lawsuit for song Judas.

Lady Gaga will have to defend recent allegations that some credit for the song Judas should be given to little-known Chicago singer Rebecca Francescatti, reports MTV News.

Francescatti filed a lawsuit in Illinois claiming that her song Juda, which dates back to 1999, has too many similarities with the popular hit.

Not only that, Francescatti’s previous bassist now works for a company called DJ White Shadow which provided 17 of the 20 tracks for Gaga’s latest album Born This Way.

Gaynor, who had worked as a bass player and sound engineer with Francescatti on Juda with her band Rebecca F. & the Memes, told the singer last year in an e-mail, that he was working with Gaga, and that he “played bass, keys, co-wrote, engineered, and co-produced” three tracks on Gaga’s Born This Way album.

Francescatti’s lawyer, Chris Niro, told TMZ that his client is seeking proper recognition for her original work.

"Though the songs are different styles, the composition is the same and the chorus is the same melody," he told the site. "[Rebecca] is seeking recognition for what she created."
