Lady Gaga continues support for Japan

Pop singer to perform at MTV Music Video Aid Japan concert in Tokyo June 25.

Music television channel MTV is organizing a mega concert MTV Music Video Aid Japan to raise funds for Japan. The country continues its painful recovery after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami swept across several coastal cities.

The event will take place June 25 in Chiba, just outside of Tokyo, Japan, and will be broadcast around the world as part of MTV World Stage series.

Among guest performers, Lady Gaga has graciously offered her support to the land of the rising sun, where she has millions of fans. The pop star has already raised $1.5 million with the sale of special bracelets, and lent her song Born This Way for the Songs for Japan compilation album along with 37 other artists.

The concert is the culmination of event of MTV Japan’s Music of Hope series, which began March 11 as a platform for young people to contribute to the rebuilding efforts.

The show will be hosted by Japanese ‘idol group’ AKB48, a group of 51 female singer-dancers, who also star of in their own TV show AKBINGO!
