Lady Gaga has a reputation as a trend setter. She freely admits that she works hard to innovate and stay ahead of the curve.
Now the Grammy Awards have bowed down to her Gaga greatness and changed an eligibility rule for one of the most coveted prizes.
Many were shocked when Gaga was not nominated in the Best New Artist category at the 2010 Grammys. Few would dispute she was the breakout artist of the year. She has already left her mark on the pop music genre and is still early on in her career.
The rule was clear: she was ineligible because her single Just Dance had been nominated the year before for Best Dance Recording. She lost to Daft Punk’s Harder Better Faster Stronger.
Grammy organizes want to prevent such an injustice from happening again. The rule has been changed and states that an act that was unsuccessfully nominated for a single is eligible for the Best New Artist category the following year.
