Lady Gaga takes on taboos

The singer plays the religion card just like Madonna did back in the day.

Those among you who remember Madonna’s music videos for Oh Father and Like a Prayer can enjoy a walk down memory lane thanks to Lady Gaga. The newest queen of pop released a video for her hit song Alejandro which plays with some taboo religious icons.

Gaga dons a nun’s habit in the new video and struggles to fight her attraction to men. But so much for chastity and self-control… Near the end of the song, she offers her practically nude self to a dozen men.

The background for this video is very 1984 by George Orwell with a militaristic choreography.

Lady Gaga also wears a bra with a protruding gun barrel pointing out of each cup. The bra is strangely reminiscent of those worn by Madonna and the dancers and created by French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier.

The mixture of religion and sex create the controversy surrounding this video for Alejandro. It’s a song from The Fame Monster, the enhanced edition of her debut album, The Fame.

The star has an erotic scene on a little bed with one of her dancers. She is dressed in a flesh-coloured bathing suit that gives the impression she is naked. She also wears an androgynous cut which stresses her admitted bisexuality.
