French model and actress Laetitia Casta, 32, has been named the new face of Cavalli, reports Vogue. Casta appears in the new ad campaign for the 2011 Diva Bag collection – a new line which marks Cavalli’s return to the world of high-end fashion accessories.
The shoot, photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, took place in London. Without any distracting backdrop, the sole focus of the image is a wild-haired Casta and her Diva handbag. She carries the large python-print bag design, and wears a matching skin-tight, snakeskin outfit.
"I chose Laetitia for my advertising campaign mainly because it has always been the beauty of real women that inspires and entices me," explained Cavalli in a statement. "Her gaze and her joyfulness, together with her sensuality, are able to give a special image to my bag, which, in its curves and the softness of its form, continues to remind of the purity of the female body"
Cavalli opened his first boutique in Saint-Tropez, France, in 1972. Now operating a number of brands under the Cavalli label, he is well-known for his signature animal prints. A number of celebrities have been seen wearing his label, including Kylie Minogue, Kanye West, and Nicki Minaj.
