LCD Soundsystem adds four concerts to farewell tour

New shows added after Madison Square Garden concert sold out too quickly.

Dance-punk band LCD Soundsystem is adding four additional shows to their farewell tour, in an effort to undercut scalpers who quickly bought out their Madison Square Garden concert, reports Spinner.

Tickets for the Madison Square Garden show sold out online almost immediately after going on sale, leaving many fans irate and some even accusing the band of orchestrating the whole thing as some publicity stunt.

"[T]his here is just to say that we were more than taken aback and surprised about the speed of ticket sales for the april 2nd [Madison Square Garden] gig, as well as the effectiveness of scalper[s]… at getting their hands on said tickets before fans could," wrote frontman James Murphy on the band’s official blog.

To fight back, the band added four pre-shows at New York’s Terminal 5. The shows will take place March 28 to 31, and the band is taking efforts to limit the efforts of scalpers, instituting a two-ticket maximum per person and a requirement to show ID at the door.

"[I] just want to give people who actually want to see us a chance to see us. for a reasonable ticket price. and want to drop the price of the tickets being sold by piece of s— scalpers," summed up Murphy in his blog post.
