LCD Soundsystem to release final concert on DVD
Dance-punk band LCD Soundsystem may have officially retired earlier this month, but they are not entirely out of the game, as a live DVD recording of their final farewell concert is currently in the works, reports Consequence of Sound.
When asked if the band was planning an official release of their April 2 show, frontman James Murphy replied on Twitter: "we will! we filmed it! much nicer than the stream! i need to mix the music and then they need to edit between all the cameras!"
There’s no word yet on a release date, but impatient fans can at least get their hands on some new material on Record Store Day (April 16), an industry-wide event meant to encourage fans to visit and support independent music store.
The band appears on a limited edition EP called Covers, that has various artists covering songs from Franz Ferdinand’s 2009 album, Tonight. LCD Soundsystem is featured on the album’s second track with their rendition of Live Alone.
