The song Animal, which appeared online last Friday (January 14), is not a leak from Lady Gaga’s upcoming album, Born This Way, as had been believed.
"[The] reported leak is not a Gaga record," a publicist for the singer said to Contact Music.
Born This Way is due for release on May 23. It will be the singer’s second studio album and third major release, following 2008’s The Fame and 2009’s extended play The Fame Monster.
The album’s title track and first official single Born This Way is planned for release on February 13. Gaga will also perform the song live at the 2011 Grammy Awards on the same day.
At last year’s ceremony, Gaga took home two Grammys and was nominated for several others. The Fame won for best electronic/dance album while Gaga’s hit single Poker Face was named best dance recording. The Fame was also nominated for 2010 album of the year, but lost out to Fearless by Taylor Swift.
