Leïla Bekhti for L’Oreal Paris

French-Algerian actress in Cannes this week.

L’Oréal Paris has found a new muse, French-Algerian film and television actress Leïla Bekhti, 27, reports Fashion Mag.

The young French cinema star has just been named ‘Most Promising Actress’ at the 2011 César French film awards ceremony.

“Leïla is a fierce actress whose radiance, energy and multicultural vision have found a home at the heart of the L’Oréal Paris family of ambassadors,” said a statement from L’Oreal.

In Cannes promoting her latest movie, Bekhti stars in The Source directed by Radu Mihaileanu, which is currently premiering as an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival.

As a Cannes sponsor, L’Oreal promoted their connection to the French beauty. Backstage cosmetician Karim Rahman explained their new brand ambassadors look for the film festival.

“I wanted to give her something very simple that goes with her beauty and her youth,” said Rhaman, “She is a young woman of our times. I gave her a light foundation, a mix of luminous lipstick and a transparent smoke veil for the eyelids.”

As brand ambassador, Bekhti joins the L’Oréal Paris star-studded roster that includes Beyoncé Knowles, Rachel Weisz, Gwen Stefani, Frieda Pinto, Jennifer Lopez, Ines de la Fressange, Laetitia Casta, and Patrick Dempsey.

Bekhti began her career in the 2005 film Sheitan starring alongside Vincent Cassel. Her latest film, The Source, will debut in French theaters on November 2.
