Lenny Kravitz to release new album this summer

Black and White America is personal for singer.

Lenny Kravitz’s new album, Black and White America, is due out this summer, and is a very personal record for the musician, reports Billboard.

"It’s my life. I grew up in an environment where I was in between a so-called black and white world," explains Kravitz, son of black actress Roxie Roker and white television producer Sy Kravitz.

"My life has always been about contrasts, and it reflects on not only my life and what I’ve gone through with my parents and what I saw growing up, but also where we are now as far as this country, and accepting these kind of changes where we now have an African-American president."

Kravitz describes the album as "very up — probably the most up album I’ve done. It’s really well-rounded as far as where my influences come from, why I love music and what I grew up listening to."

The singer-songwriter also promises "a very big world tour that’ll go for a couple of years" to promote the new album.

The first track from the album, Come On Get It, features as part of an NBA promotion. A version of the track is available on both the NBA website as well as Kravitz’s own. He’ll also be performing live at the NBA All-Star game this Sunday (February 20).
