Leona Lewis soars at Glassheart tour

Leona Lewis wowed concert-goers at the Royal Albert Hall last night (09.05.13).

The ‘Bleeding Love’ hitmaker took the stage at the iconic London venue for the second night in a row for a sold-out show as part of her ‘Glassheart’ UK tour and treated fans to songs old and new with her signature soaring vocal range.

Introducing the show by asking fans to open their "hearts and minds and enjoy this journey", Leona’s intimate set relied on few tricks, fireworks or elaborate staging – letting her voice do the work instead. An emotional rendition of ‘Footprints in the Sand’, dedicated to her grandmother, particularly struck a chord with teary-eyed members of the London-born singer’s family who rallied in support of her homecoming gig.

The jaunt marks the star’s second tour following 2010’s ‘Labyrinth’ arena tour, and the once-timid performer has clearly come out of her shell since then, confidently strutting across the stage while tackling choreography-heavy uptempo tracks including the dubstep-infused ‘Glassheart’, ‘Collide’ and Akon-assisted ‘Forgive Me’.

However, it was the former ‘X Factor’ winner’s unmistakable ability to command an audience by hitting high notes – which from any other artist may prove ear-piercing – with effortless grace that truly earned applause from the audience gathered at the famed venue.

As the concert drew to a close, Leona saved the best for last, performing her smash hit number one single ‘Bleeding Love’ and followed up with an rousing rendition of her Snow Patrol cover, ‘Run’, backed – in true ‘X Factor’ style – by a full choir.
