Last week, Adam Cohen, son of the legendary artist Leonard Cohen, mentioned in an interview that his father often consulted him about songs he was working on.
It was enough to get the rumor mill going about the possible release of a new Leonard Cohen album this week, just as he launched Leonard Cohen – Complete Studio Albums Collection, a box of 11 CDs containing the full length of his work, which had a sense of finality for the 77-year-old singer-songwriter.
The Hallelujah singer delivered the news yesterday (October 19) in Spain, where he was collecting a prize for authors who do not write in Spanish.
The album, titled Old Ideas, contains 10 new songs, or, at least, previously unpublished tunes.
“I’ve played it for a few people and they seem to like it,” he said.
No specific release date has been announced for the album.
