Leonardo DiCaprio Gives Toons a Try

Leonardo DiCaprio will be experimenting with animation for the first time in his career.

For the first time, the actor will lend his voice to an animated character. He will play the snowman Jack Frost in the DreamWorks Animation flick, The Guardians.

Variety revealed that the film was inspired by the soon-to-be-published book series, The Guardians of Childhood, by William Joyce.

Similarly to a Shrek sequel, which put a spin on our renowned childhood princesses, The Guardians will present a new Santa Claus, Snowman and Easter Bunny, Sandman and Tooth Fairy. They will be superheroes who battle the evil character Pitch.

This will also be Peter Ramsey’s first feature film, after he recently directed the Halloween television special, Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space.

The Guardians is headed for theatres on November 2, 2012.

In the meantime, DiCaprio will be starring in Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island, opening February 19, 2010. We can also see him in Inception, in theatres next year on July 16.
