Leonardo DiCaprio says his role in the film thriller Shutter Island has been the most exciting in his career, reports Thisislondon.co.uk.
35-year old DiCaprio plays hardened war vet Teddy Daniels who finds himself on a fortress-like island which houses a hospital for the criminally insane. This film was directed by Martin Scorsese. He has cast DiCaprio in every movie he has made since 2002.
DiCaprio’s character is investigating the disappearance of a murderer. While trying to solve the mystery, he gets caught up in a series of plot twists and starts to wonder about his own mental sanity.
He says that "This is the most challenging one to date for me. Physically yes but emotionally more so. It was the nature of the material. It was obviously a complex jigsaw puzzle and it was surprising for both of us at times, and it really shocked us."
Shutter Island comes to theatres on March 12 and also stars Ben Kingsley, Mark Ruffalo and Max Von Sydow.
