The singer was found guilty yesterday of perjury, after having lied to police about a shootout involving members of her entourage.
Kim, who is the well-known singer who joined Christina Aguilera in 2001 to record the song Lady Marmalade, stated that she did not take part in the shooting. She pleaded not guilty. However, the verdict in the New York court room came back as guilty.
In February 2001, after an interview at radio station Hot 97, Lil’ Kim’s people were confronted by members of rival rap group Junior M.A.F.I.A., and a shootout occured.
Police confirmed that 30 rounds were fired from 6 different guns.
The 30 year-old singer claims to be a victim, because she feels that she’s been convicted of a crime she didn’t commit.
Former sentencing is scheduled for June 24th.
