Lil Wayne extends tour by 40 dates

Controversial rapper includes stops in Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto.

Controversial rapper Lil Wayne, who served a one-year sentence in prison last year for criminal possession of a weapon – reduced to eight months for good behavior – has announced an additional forty dates for his I Am Still Music tour.

The second leg of the tour crisscrosses North America from July through to September, beginning in Hartford, Connecticut and wrapping in Woodlands, Texas. In addition to Toronto on August 19, the rapper will perform in Ottawa on the 16th and Montreal on the 17th.

The immensely popular rapper shares the same record label, Young Money Entertainment, as such diverse artists as Tyga, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Lil Twist, and T-Pain.

In the meantime, his upcoming ninth studio album, and first since being released from prison, Tha Carter IV, postponed several times, is due to be released on June 21.
