Lil Wayne promises album completed

Much-delayed Tha Carter IV will hit shelves August 29.

Lil Wayne is well and truly finished recording his much-delayed album Tha Carter IV, the rapper promised in an interview with MTV.

"The album is done and it’ll be out August 29. It’s totally done," he said.

When Tha Carter IV was first announced at the beginning of the year, it was originally due out in the spring. Come March, Wayne said the album would drop in May, but by the end of April, that date had been pushed back to June – and then delayed again until August 29, where it has continued to hold firm.

To help tide fans over during the delay, the MC will release a new mixtape tomorrow (July 13) called, appropriately enough, Sorry 4 the Wait.

When it finally sees the light of day, Tha Carter IV will be Wayne’s first new album since his release from prison last November. The 28-year-old was incarcerated in March 2010, and served an eight-month sentence for criminal possession of a weapon.
