Lil Wayne sued over copyright breach

Done Deal Enterprises claims the rapper’s hit song Bedrock is stolen material.

Rapper Lil Wayne has found himself in the headlines again – this time facing allegations that he stole his hit track Bedrock.

The multi-million-dollar lawsuit launched by Done Deal Enterprises alleges the rapper, along with Young Money Entertainment and Cash Money Records, stole the song Bedrock, recording it and releasing it as their own.

The well-received track was featured on the compilation album We Are Young Money and topped the Billboard Rap charts, reaching number two on the Hot 100.

Executives at Done Deal Enterprises are seeking a £9.3 million payout from Lil Wayne, Young Money Records and Cash Money. The rapper will face the claims in court on October 12.

Unfortunately for Lil Wayne, this is not the sole legal upset he has to contend with: he also faces allegations of unpaid royalties from a 2008 collaboration with T-Pain (from production duo Play-N-Skillz), while producer David Kirkwood alleges Wayne owes him payments and royalties from the album Tha Carter III. A lawsuit regarding a sample used without permission on one of Wayne’s 2006 projects also dogs the Grammy-award winning rapper.
