Lilith Fair is back

The Lilith Fair tour has eight confirmed dates so far with more to come.

Lilith Fair is back after an 11-year break. The tour was created by Canadian Sarah McLachlan in 1997.

At the time, McLachlan was fed up with concert promoters and radio stations that would not feature two female artists in a row. She took matters into her own hands and created Lilith Fair, a festival that consists of female solo artists and female-led bands.

Show dates are starting to be announced and there’s an impressive line-up of artists to perform.

The festival first stops in Portland, Oregon on July 2, in Seattle on July 3, Chicago on July 17 and Indianapolis on July 20. There’s a concert scheduled in Toronto on July 24. After that, the tour heads south of the border again to hit Cleveland on July 27, Atlanta on August 8 and West Palm Beach on August 10.

Though no date has been confirmed, the cities of Boston, Los Angeles and Edmonton are on the tour’s list of stops this summer.

The headlining acts throughout the tour are as impressive as the tour’s first time around. Among the big names already confirmed are Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris, Indigo Girls, Tegan and Sara, Erykah Badu, Mary J. Blige, Colbie Caillat, Ke$ha, Miranda Lambert, Sugarland and Emily Haines. Canadian group Metric will be there, Sarah McLachlan (of course!), Ima, Norah Jones, Gossip, Loretta Lynn, Cat Power, La Roux and Heart. Other names will be added to the list as well.

Lilith Fair only stopped once in Montreal in 1997, its inaugural year.
