Lily Allen Cancels Performance

An illness is keeping Lily Allen from performing.

Allen was forced to cancel a show planned for this weekend in London, because she is suffering from symptoms of laryngitis and bronchitis, and her doctor has ordered her to steer clear of the stage.

Capital FM published a statement from the songstress which read, "I’ve been battling a throat problem on tour for weeks now, but it has finally got the better of me. I’ve done my best at not cancelling any shows as I don’t want to disappoint my fans, but on doctors orders I have to totally rest my voice for five days, meaning that I cannot do the Jingle Bell Ball."

The Jingle Bell Ball is a show put together by London’s Capital FM radio station, and is set to go on this weekend in the capital city. Lady Gaga and Janet Jackson are also among the line-up.

Allen concluded, "I’m so sorry for all the Capital listeners looking forward to seeing me at the event, but I’m struggling to talk, let alone sing.  I really appreciate the support that my fans and Capital have given me, and I hope to see you all very soon."

The singer will be taking a 2-year hiatus in March next year.
