Lily Allen happy with Goulding, Mvula video praise

Lily Allen was ”really happy” to be congratulated by several female stars, including Ellie Goulding and Laura Mvula, on her controversial new music video for comeback track ‘Hard Out Here’.

Lily Allen was ”really happy” to be congratulated on her ‘Hard Out Here’ video by Ellie Goulding and Laura Mvula.

The 28-year-old singer has come under fire for her raunchy new video, including being accused of racism, so she was delighted when a host of female stars praised the clip, and was especially pleased when Laura told her the video had made her ”laugh and cry with happiness”.

Speaking at the Red Bull Revolutions in Sound event last night (14.11.13) at the EDF Energy London Eye – where she performed her new single ‘Hard Out Here’ live for the first time – she told BANG Showbiz: ”I’ve had millions of females in the industry congratulating me – Laura Mvula, Ellie Goulding, Kate Nash.

”Laura Mvula said she both laughed and cried with happiness at the video so I was very happy with that.”

However, the brunette beauty admits she has been left saddened by several reactions to the video – in which she undergoes liposuction at the behest of her manager in order to look thin and glamorous after her four-year hiatus from the music scene – so much so she can’t stand to talk about them.

When asked if she has been disappointed by any reactions, she replied: ”Plenty. But we’re not going to talk about that!”

Despite the negative comments about ‘Hard Out Here’ – her first original track since 2009 – Lily admitted the video had ultimately ”done the trick” in catapulting her back into the spotlight.

She added: ”I’ve been away for four years and people have been anticipating what I was going to come back with.

”I wanted to make a video that would make people want to talk and to share it, it’s not meant to be a conventional single really. So the whole point was for people to talk about it and share it on the internet and it’s done the trick.”

Lily wowed viewers and fans when she performed ‘Hard Out Here’ in a pod on the EDF Energy London Eye at Red Bull Revolutions in Sound, a celebration of UK club culture with 30 of the most legendary club nights in 30 capsules, last night. Her performance was also streamed live on www.revolutionsinsound.com
