Lily Allen joins H+M Design Award jury

Lily Allen has joined the H&M Design Award jury.

The ‘Sheezus’ hitmaker has been added to the team of judges – which also includes H&M’s creative head of design, Ann-Sofie Johansson and Luella Bartley, design director of Marc by Marc Jacobs – to chose one lucky fashion student to take home the coveted prize worth 50,000 euros.

Eight finalists from schools around the world – including Central St Martins in London and Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm – are in contention for the award which promises the huge sum, a show at Stockholm Fashion Week, a mentorship and a collaboration with an established fashion giant, reports WWD.

H&M’s creative director, Paula Goldstein Di Principe – who is also judging the competition – said: ”The quality of the finalists overall made the choice a very hard one. Every one of the finalists displayed unique talent and creativity. We had to go back and forth many times and found passionate reasons to champion each of them.”

Lily, 29 – who is known for her quirky fashion sense – is no stranger to the world of design.

The Brit Award-winner recently collaborated with beauty accessories company Elegant Touch to create a collection of fun and bright fake nail sets and admitted she feels blessed to own so many clothes.

Reflecting on her style, Lily said: ”I’d say the way I dress is more of a mood thing. I’m quite into being matchy matchy – so I’m more likely to match my nail colours to my outfit than my mood.

”Then again, I’m really lucky – I have so many clothes, shoes and accessories that I can actually match everything to anything.”
