Lily Allen not closing Lucy in Disguise

British singer-designer insists London retail store is doing well.

British singer-turned-designer Lily Allen is denying claims that her vintage clothing shop, Lucy in Disguise, is closing because it is in financial trouble, reports Coco Perez.

Although the store is closing in London’s Covent Garden, Allen explained it was part of the plan all along. The Covent Garden store was simply a temporary ‘pop-up shop’ to launch the brand – the company will relocate to a new London store and also plans to expand its online business.

"Our Covent Garden space was a nine month pop-up store that helped us successfully launch the Lucy in Disguise concept and this current move was always part of our plan," a spokesperson for Allen explained to Vogue UK.

"Lucy in Disguise is pleased to announce we have a new store. As we develop this exciting new space on 48 Lexington Street which will open in August, we are able to welcome our customers to our pop-up store just around the corner at 3 Lowndes Court."

Allen herself took to Twitter to warn publications against continuing to spread the falsehood: ""If any other publication wants to write deliberately misleading articles about Lucy in Disguise, feel free, I WILL sue you," she wrote.

Allen operates both the Lucy in Disguise label and storefront with her sister Sarah Owen. The new permanent shop is set to open August 1, while another pop-up shop will operate throughout the remainder of July.
