Nothing seems to run smoothly for Lindsay Lohan. First, she missed some alcohol education classes and was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating her probation. Now, her new lawyer up and quits just hours before she starts the jail sentence.
The troubled actress is supposed to present herself before a Beverly Hills judge this morning (July 20) and surrender. However, there is no word on which lawyer will be there to represent her.
Her original lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, quit after Lohan was sentenced. The lawyer, however, did not sign the document to officially remove herself as Lohan’s lawyer.
Last week, well-known defence attorney Robert Shapiro took on the case. He has successfully defended clients like O.J. Simpson. Shapiro said he would defend Lohan if she followed the judge’s orders and reported to jail instead of trying to appeal.
Lindsay Lohan has been staying at the Pickford Lofts sober-living facility. It was founded by Shapiro after his son died of a drug overdose. Due to overcrowding in L.A. jails, Lohan will likely only serve one-quarter of her sentence. She must then check into in-patient rehab for 90 days.
