According to a report from Palm Desert police investigators, Mean Girls actress Lindsay Lohan violated her probation when she got into a scuffle with an employee of the Betty Ford rehabilitation centre in California during her court-ordered stay, reports People.
Upon investigation, police concluded that Lohan had assaulted employee Dawn Holland at the Betty Ford Center on December 12. Holland stated the actress was acting "out of control" after being caught coming home after curfew with alcohol on her breath and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test.
"The investigation determined Ms. Lohan violated several aspects of her probation, including the battery [charge]," the Palm Desert Police Department said in a statement on Monday (January 3), adding that they plan to notify Lohan’s probation officer.
Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, said the police had overstepped their bounds by issuing a statement that his client had violated the terms of her probation. According to Holley, the police have the mandate to collect the facts and evidence, not to draw their own conclusions.
Lohan recently completed her rehab on this past Monday, January 3 and must return to court February 25 for a progress review.
Police are continuing their investigation despite the employee’s decision to recant her statement. Her attorney said that Holland was a former addict herself and had no desire to see Lohan prosecuted.
