Live Earth Back on for Rio de Janeiro

The Brazil concert for Live Earth is back on after a judge changed her mind about his previous ruling.

The organisers of the event in Rio de Janeiro have convinced the judge that they have obtained the necessary security to handle the crowd, that is expected to be 700,000 for the July 7th show on the beach at Copacabana.

A Live Earth spokeswoman said: "Live Earth Rio de Janeiro on Copacabana Beach will go forward as planned. Earlier this week approval for the concert was withheld by local authorities who wished to review local security capabilities. We met with authorities and addressed their concerns, and the concert will continue as planned."

The Rio concert will feature performances from Pharrell Williams, Macy Gray and Lenny Kravitz, among others, and is the only Live Earth show that is being offered free of charge.
