Sir Paul McCartney slipped over as he left the stage after his final show of the year on Monday (19.12.11).
The Beatles legend took a tumble down some stairs after completing his Christmas hometown show in Liverpool as he was leaving the stage at the city’s Echo Arena.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "He’s not accident-prone so it’s unusual for him to be clumsy. He saw the funny side."
Paul – who was discovered with the band when they regularly played at the city’s Cavern Club in the early 60s – was reportedly unshaken by the incident, and simply "dusted himself down" before carrying on.
The fall was the second Paul has taken this year, after he had a similar problem with steps in Brazil.
Paul, 69, is not the only rock star to have suffered minor problems at a show this year.
In January, Kasabian singer Tom Meighan told how he had been hit in the face with a rogue frankfurter thrown by a fan, which left him temporarily blinded.
The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards also famously suffered similar mishaps when playing in Germany. First he slipped on a frankfurter in Frankfurt, and things only got worse in the city of Hamburg.
He said: "I slipped on a hamburger. It’s absolutely true. I’ve always got the shower of dope thrown at me onstage, but you’ve got to be even more wary of German foodstuffs."
