Actress Liza Minnelli hopes that the Weinstein Company, which finances the film inspired by the biography Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland, will not focus on Judy Garland’s consumption problems, but rather on her talent.
Minnelli approved of the studio’s decision to put Anne Hathaway in the role of the The Wizard of Oz star.
"Well, I love Anne Hathaway. And I hope that it’s a good movie and I hope that it’s true. You know, that they don’t just concentrate on the crap like they usually do," said Minnelli during her appearance on CityTV.
"(I hope) that they talk about her the way she should be talked about which was she was a fabulous entertainer, a great mother and just a wonderful human being," she added.
