Lohan family threatens to sue film project

Family says Dogs in Pocketbooks film is negative portrayal of Lindsay Lohan.

Charles Casillo told the New York Post that Lindsay Lohan’s life inspired his film Dogs in Pocketbooks

He said he was inspired by the life of the starlet to write a story about the journey of a teen actress who ends up being better known for her antics instead of her acting, and that the script has references to rehab and court appearances.

Supermodel Lydia Hearst was to play the lead role, but the Hollywood Reporter says she has distanced herself from the project after the Lohan family stated they were considering legal action against the film.

Yesterday, the Lohan family lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, told TMZ she thinks they have a case against the film. "They are again using [Lindsay’s] likeness without her being compensated. Not only that, but they are advertising the fact they are using her likeness. Anyone bringing negativity will be dealt with accordingly."

“It’s more like it’s based on some of the headlines she’s generated. Not a biography. The movie is a satire on the nature of celebrity today,” Casillo told EW. He added that the character is a composite of starlets including Lohan, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton, among others.

As for the lawsuit, Casillo thinks "the Lohan family has no reason to disapprove and her people have no reason to be up in arms… this is not about Lindsay Lohan’s life. I realize that people love Lindsay. They probably want a movie about her. However, this movie is fiction."
