Yesterday evening (September 18) in Los Angeles, Glee actress Jane Lynch hosted the 63rd annual Emmy Awards.

AMC’s 1950s drama Mad Men won best drama series, and the mockumentary comedy Modern Family won for best comedy series for the second consecutive year.

Two Oscar winners received Emmys, including director Martin Scorsese for the Boardwalk Empire pilot, and Kate Winslet for best actress in a mini-series for Mildred Pierce.

During the evening, actor Charlie Sheen, who attended the awards show as a presenter, apparently recovered from his erratic behavior earlier this year that led to his dismissal from top comedy show Two and a Half Men. He has since been replaced by Ashton Kutcher.

“From the bottom of my heart I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season,” Sheen said.
