Madonna Escapes Charges

Pop singer Madonna will not be charged by German authorities.

German leaders were monitoring Madonna’s performance in their country, and added that should she cross the line, that she would have to face legal repercussions.

Following the show and the investigation, German authorities have decided not to bring charges against the singer, although they added that her performance was certainly vulgar.  Madonna stayed within her artistic freedom rights.

Johannes Mocken spoke on behalf of German authorities, saying, "We are not going to open an inquiry against Madonna. The show was extremely provocative but not punishable."

Madonna performed in Germany on August 20.  The Dusseldorf LTU Arena was filled with 45,000 fans for the concert.
