According to Reuters, Madonna has teamed with the prestigious design house to raise money for Raising Malawi, a charity founded in 2006 that aids orphans in Malawi.
At the opening of the Gucci boutique on New York’s Fifth Avenue on February 26, 2008, a special dinner will take place. Madonna will perform and also show the attendees the harsh reality of the lives of the orphans in the African country. Madonna said, "I am grateful that Gucci is joining forces with me to bring attention to a country with millions of children in desperate need of our help."
Madonna and her husband, Guy Ritchie, adopted a boy from Malawi, David Banda, in 2006.
