Madonna is currently on the road with her Confessions tour, and recently performed in Moscow, despite a number of religious protestors. The singer went on with her show, which included having herself suspended by a giant cross.
The Like a Prayer singer, who loves to create controversy, has been carefully watched by European religious authorities. Father Vsevolod Chaplin, a spokesperson for the Russian Orthodox church, spoke about Madonna’s concert yesterday. He said, "This lady has been glorifying human passions with the help of religious symbols for years – crosses, statues and beads. Now she thinks it is time for her to crucify herself in public. It means the singer is in need of spiritual help."
Additionally, a German priest was arrested last month for making a bomb threat in an attempt to cancel Madonna’s Amsterdam show.
