Madonna filed a request yesterday (March 30) to adopt a little girl from Malawi, and the court will render a decision on Friday (April 3).
The singer arrived in Malawi last weekend with her daughter, Lourdes, and her son David, who was also adopted from Malawi in 2006.
Just as was the case with David’s adoption, the procedure to adopt Mercy is also filled with controversy.
A human rights organisation contends that Madonna is using her clout as a celebrity to accelerate the adoption process.
Mercy’s grandmother hopes that the adoption will be denied, and that Mercy will remain in Malawi.
