According to Variety, Maggie Gyllenhaal will star in Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, the sequel to Nanny McPhee.
This time, the story takes place a century later and follows children from the city who get evacuated to the country during World War II. The magical nanny will have to deal with the realities of war, along with the war between two completely different groups of children.
Emma Thompson, who penned the script and is also the executive producer, will resume her role as Nanny McPhee. Rhys Ifans, Maggie Smith and Asa Butterfield are also part of the cast. Ralph Fiennes is in talks to play a small role.
Filming is set for this summer.
In the meantime, Maggie Gyllenhaal will star in Away We Go, which opens in select theatres on June 5. She will also be seen in Crazy Heart, which doesn’t yet have a release date.
