Malkovich and Hathaway in Spider-Man 4

Two new villains will pop up in the fourth instalment of Spider-Man.

Rumours have been abuzz for the fourth film of the Spider-Man franchise. While Tobey Maguire is confirmed to reprise his role, several names to stand in as Spider-Man’s next enemy have been circulating.

After the vampire Morbius and The Lizard were mentioned, now word of a vulture-like character is going around. According to MovieLine, John Malkovich is in talks to play the role of an ex-engineer who can fly, thanks to a special super-powered get-up.

In addition, it was rumoured that Anne Hathaway could be playing the female evildoer of the flick, Vulturess. The role of Black Cat, which was to go to either Rachel McAdams, Romola Garai or Julia Stiles, has allegedly been scrapped.

Currently, director Sam Raimi refused to comment on the villainess, but it was revealed that the film is headed to theatres on May 5, 2011 and that filming will be underway in January.

John Malkovich will be starring alongside Josh Brolin and Megan Fox in Jonah Hex, which opens on June 18, 2010. He is currently shooting Secretariat with Diane Lane, on the big screen on October 8, 2010.

As for Anne Hathaway, she will next star in Valentine’s Day on February 12 and Alice in Wonderland on March 5, 2010.
