Manolo Blahnik teams up with Madeline Weinrib

Shoe giant Manolo Blahnik has selected four of designer Madeline Weinrib’s most sumptuous fabrics to feature in their new footwear collection.

Madeline Weinrib is teaming up with Manolo Blahnik.

The designer, celebrated for handcrafted homewear items and beautiful patterns, has landed a shoe collaboration with the footwear giant, who have decided to use her fabrics for four different shoe styles.

Madeline told WWD: "They beautifully translated my fabrics into shoes that feel incredibly fresh and new. They’ve given me a great excuse to add to my Manolo Blahnik collection."

George Malkemus, Manolo Blahnik’s US president, said he visited Madeline’s studio to sift through her samples before opting for the four fabrics, which have been transformed into a pump, wedge, smoking shoe and sandal.

He commented: "I’ve been following Madeline’s work for a long time and I’m a big fan of her exquisite fabrics."

The shoes, retailing at $595 for an ikat fabric sandal to $775 for a wedge made with Weinrib’s Ivy block-print fabric, are exclusive to the US market.

They will be available at Manolo Blahnik stores in New York and select Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Barneys New York locations.
