Man’s best-dressed friend

Moschino’s style goes to the dogs – for a good cause.

Italian fashion house Moschino is branching out into a new department – Moschino Pets. The label has launched a capsule collection of high-end doggy accessories with proceeds going towards charity, reports Coco Perez.

The collection includes two leash and collar sets. The Fioccosso ("bow-bone") line features a white resin pendant – part bow, part bone – on the collar, and a matching leash. The Cuori ("heart") set offers a new dog-oriented spin on the iconic Moschino heart logo, with a heart-studded collar in leather and brass with a leash to match.

The collars run between $109 and $164, while the matching leashes are priced between $145 and $164. For those wanting a touch of class, the line also includes two dog tag accessories: plain brass for $29, or red for $32.

The prices may be steep, but the proceeds go to a good cause – the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, which helps to train dogs to find people buried beneath rubble after a natural disaster. Funds raised by the Moschino Pets project will be directed towards efforts surrounding the Japanese earthquake.

The brand ambassador for the collection is Rocco, a six-year-old tricolor basset hound who was World Champion in 2006.

"Thanks to his adorable puppy eyes, [he] is the ideal mascot to represent the savoir-faire of the exclusive Moschino Pets line," the company said in a statement.
