The American Music Awards took place yesterday evening at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and the host was Jimmy Kimmel. The big winners were Carrie Underwood, Daughtry and Justin Timberlake.
Daughtry won for all three nominations. The band won for Favorite Breakthrough Artist, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Favorite Pop Rock Album.
Justin Timberlake won for Best Male Pop/Rock Artist and Best Soul and R&B Album for his album, FutureSex/Love Sounds.
Carrie Underwood won an award for Best Female Artist and her album, Some Hearts, won for Best Country Album.
Other winners at the AMA included Akon, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Fergie and Nickelback. There were performances during the ceremony by artists such as Mary J Blige, Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah, Chris Brown, Duran Duran, Sugarland, Maroon 5, Lenny Kravitz, Rihanna and Céline Dion, who sang her newest single, Taking Chances.
