Marc Jacobs Accused of Copying a Design

A Swedish man is claiming that Marc Jacobs copied a scarf created by his father.

Göran Olofsson, claims that the scarf created by his father, Gösta, in the 1950s, was copied by American designer Marc Jacobs.

“I was very surprised when I saw the new scarf. It looks like a clear case of plagiarism. I suppose my father was before his time,” he told The Local.

A photo was taken of Olofsson holding two scarves that have a striking resemblance.  The original scarf was sold to tourists in Sweden, while the other one was made by Marc Jacobs in 1984.

Olofsson believes that his scarf was brought to the United States by tourists and Marc Jacobs copied the scarf. Olofsson intends to sue the designer if he does not receive compensation.
